Holiday Gift Guide 2015: Karrie’s Wishlist

Karrie's Wishlist | Covet Living Ultimate Gift Guide 2015

Hello friends! Karrie here, and today it’s MY turn to spill my Dear Santa list for 2015. Cause ya know, I’m an angel 24/7, and totally deserve to have a fat jovial man drop off some goodies for moi:

Karrie

So here goes!:

1 – LOUIE BOOTIES, Sam Edelman $99. Fringe booties say, I’m a little bit country, but I’m a little bit rock and roll. I’ve wanted fringe booties for a while, and these are practically perfect.

2 – GIFT CARD, Home DepotIn a sea of “I want, I want, I want” this is the lone “I need”. Yours truly is in the process of buying her first house (!!!) and we’re due for a major renovation.

3 – “REAGAN” TWO TONE WATCH, Michael Kors, $165.99A little bit unexpected – this watch is super cool and sleek, and will go with so much. Love.

4 – “DREAMER” FLANNEL SLEEPSHIRT, Victoria’s Secret, $39.50 I once read a blogger write that a lady should never go to bed in sweatpants, if she has a boyfriend or is married. I remember almost choking on my glass of water, cause this is what I look like each evening:

Whoops. But THIS is a perfect compromise, IMO. It looks SO comfy, and is way cuter than hand-me-down PJs from Goodwill (not that there’s anything wrong with that):

5 – ADELE “25”, Target, $12.99Some artists deserve better than having their music illegally downloaded. Adele, I’d go to the ends of a Target aisle for you. By the way, do you have this album yet? Supposedly it’s delicious.

6 – “FLEX” RUNNING SHOES, Nike, $80Now these are a pair of kicks I could fancy myself wearing not to the gym (though I DO need gym shoes), but out and about with my regular clothes.

7 – PLAID BLANKET WRAP SCARF, Target, $16.99Cozy, colorful and obvi not too much $$$ cause it’s from the Mother Land.

8 – RESURFACING RETINOL, Shani Darden Skincare, $95I’m now at the age where, if I see a face product with words like “resurfacing” or “refinishing” or “sandblasting” I automatically want to buy them. This one in particular’s a fave amongst tons of dewy-faced, gorgeous celebs. Come to Mama.

9 – SKINNY OVERALLS, Black Orchid, $189Ok, ok, so this trend will be donezo in a year. Totally get that. But look how cute they are. They’re the slim-fitting answer to my overalls I sported every other day in ’95 from The Buckle. These are way more flattering, and would be adorable with booties or heels.

10 – VINTAGE AFRICAN INDIGO MUDCLOTH PILLOW, The Estate of Things, $55Double high five to the ladies at TEOT for starting an Etsy shop with all kinds of yummy accessories, such as this gorgeous handmade pillow.

11 – SLIM AARONS’ “SPEEDBOAT LANDING” PRINT, $174Can you imagine a big, fat, oversized print of this on a wall? D-o-n-e.

12 – WOMEN’S GYM CAPRIS, Nike, $45Not sure how I’d work out in these, but I DO know how I’d Netflix and chill in these: Very comfortably.

13 – ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION, People Magazine, $121I’ve loved this mag since I was 12. Oh, Santa, can ya hook a sister up?

14 – GJELINA COOKBOOK, $19.25True story. One time Steph and I went to Gjelina on a Sunday after her birthday and helped alleviate the Sunday Blues by scarfing a couple pizzas and other dishes washed down with a couple bottles of rose… followed by two butterscotch pot de cremes. This restaurant is our special place. And it’s now in cookbook form. I DIE.

15 – SLEEP SLIPPERS, Asos, $26What more needs to be said, except that these slippers represent everything pure in this world? Oh, and since my nickname is Sheep, wearing these would be like wearing my relatives every single day.

16 – OVER THE KNEE “SAMANTHA” BOOTS, Ugg, $299. Wear ’em over the knee or folded over. Soon-to-be in heavy rotation over leggings this winter.

17 – GIFT CARD, CorePower YogaA repeat offender from last year. This yoga studio is a godsend, and I swear (as does Stephy) that its HotPowerFusion class has healing powers.

That’s it for now! PS, am I the only one who feels like the Holidays 2014 just happened? How did I wake up and it was already almost 2016?

When I was a kid, Easter was all the rage because it meant that I got to dye eggs (ahhh – can’t you just smell the vinegar and see the PAAS kit on the kitchen table??) and if I was lucky, it meant I might get some new frilly, saccharin-colored Easter dress… probably something my Grandmother would buy me in an attempt to make me “act like a lady.”  (Ask Ruthie how that worked out for her.)  As an adult, I’ve swapped real eggs for Reese’s peanut butter ones, and Easter dresses for Easter kicks – otherwise known as floral pumps.  Dresses – meh – you may only wear once or twice, but floral pumps, imho, are a far better investment because they’re almost like a wild card / versatile neutral you can wear with anything: they take jeans + a white tee from “I just painted my bedroom in this” to très chic, take a normal striped dress (hey Hopie Sue!) from “I’m going to the Country Club today (yawn)” to “oh hey guys, I just threw this together because I’m channeling Carrie Bradshaw & am effortlessly fashionable and free-spirited and fabulous” …or yo.  If you work in an office where the dress code is a little more austere – say, suits & dresses that are all one neutral color – then maybe you can still have a little fun with what’s on your feet.  Plus… if looking down at your hooves and seeing these doesn’t brighten everyone’s day, gurl I don’t know what will 🙂
