Baby Kuruzar’s Nursery

Hola Campers! Been awhile, huh!?  BTW, this is what we look like now:

Just kidding. We’re still fresh outta Muncie and haven’t matured. At all.

Resurrecting our beloved and oh-so-dormant, knobby-kneed 8-year old blog is my & Karrie’s favorite thing to talk about doing… and then talk about again 6 months later, like it was a load of laundry we forgot to do yesterday, but are totally putting on the to-do list for tomorrow. #whoops. Time FLIES and life takes over, I suppose… I see you all nodding in unison, cuz you get it. But omg, we can barely hold it together now and we don’t even have kids yet. I remember last 4th of July, when Melissa & Paul were in LA for a wedding and we all spent the weekend at Casa CL, it literally took me, Karrie & Chris… and Gus – 3 grown adults and one future president – trading off and taking turns wiping our sweaty brows, just to take care of the Mad Yau for a day. And she was an easy, sweet pea of a baby…

So, it appears we’re all screwed for when we have our own kiddos… some of us sooner than others. Cuz if you follow my co-blogger and lifelong buddy’s insta, you probably know that THIS HUSSY HAS GONE & GOTTEN HERSELF KNOCKED UP.

I mean… this is gonna be REAL fun. I have visions of Karrie puréeing the finest box of Kraft shells & cheese aka the nectar of the gods for her little one, looking like Chewbacca’s twin sister in the mornings, and throwing some *sick* backyard themed parties for the wee Kuruzar. But for now, I’ll let Karrie & Tim focus on preparing to be parents while I focus on what’s really important: decorating the nursery. !!%&*#%

According to the inside of a Duncan Heinz cupcake, we know Karrie’s having a boy. But truth be told, I’d be pushing all colors of the serene rainbow no matter what she was having. This room currently is an overflow closet / storage room of sorts… the only thing we did in there is bamboo blinds, so it’s otherwise a blank canvas. After a little spitballing, we decided we wanted a few things:

  • Drapery Panels in a really pretty fabric (to soften the room a bit, and to hang over the bamboo blinds.. because we love layahs)
  • A dreamy wall color
  • An Antique Rug to bring in and tie together the colors in the room
  • A dresser to double as a changing table

This is what I came up with:

PAINT COLOR: these are just watercolor swatches – but something along the lines of Farrow & Ball’s Lichen or Benjamin Moore’s Antiguan Sky or Behr’s Seafoam green (but cut to be lighter) // PENDANT LIGHT: this is the Pato Otomi from Stray Dog, which is my favorite light in the history of ever for a nursery // DRAPERY PANEL FABRIC: newly discovered Heather Chadduck Grande Fronde in Marine // DRESSER: Madegoods Pierre // SWIVEL CHAIR: Westley Swivel from Gabby – fabric TBD, but probably with a lumbar in that gorgeous Lisa Fine’s Aswan in Monsoon // ANTIQUE RUG: Kate Lester Home (sadly sold after we saw it) // CRIB: Serena & Lily Liberty Crib // SHEEP MOBILE: Etsy

And since that rad rug above is sold – (it was on hold for another customer when we saw it, then we stalked it HARD to wait for the other lady to pass on it, then she bought it and I cried myself to sleep for a week) – we went ahead and grabbed the one below instead. May not hurt to have some warmer hues in there too.  Also added in some Robert Kime fabric as an accent:

Stay tuned for pics once it gets rollin! And also for more posts to come… I have LOTS of advice to give about renovating / building, fun projects to share with you guys, plenty of life thoughts and also inappropriate things to say, and I’m SURE Karrie has some playlists, reading lists and sage advice to spew herself!

xoxo,

Pretty in Pink Nursery

Little Girl's Nursery | Covet Living Interiors

Hola!  Yesterday, while I was on the Greyhound bus ride from *hockeysticks* with no Wifi, no service and no end in sight, I doodled this sweet little girl’s nursery.  It is pale pink on cream on pale pink on a WHOLE lotta pattern with splashes of green, which at first I thought was way too busy (and it may still be), but now when I look at it, it just feels layered & cozy to me because most of the patterns are all in the same tone… well, with a bright punch of hot pink for good measure.  So yo.  This one goes out to my next friend to get knocked up!
