Tumblers & Highballs & Goblets – oh my!

A few years ago when I was flipping through Charleston Home magazine, I saw this:

Designer Muffie Faith’s kitchen, courtesy of Charleston Home

And it got my heart all aflutter.  Who KNEW you didn’t have to commit to just one set of matching glassware, but could (gasp!) compile a curated ROYGBIV collection of all the most gorgeous rocks glasses, wine goblets and tumblers you’ve ever seen?  LOOK at ’em – they’re glistening like little gems up there – looking like a work of art, collected over time.  As someone who can scarcely decide on what pack of gum to buy in the supermarket checkout (don’t even think about asking me to commit to just ONE set of throw pillows), this eclectic tableware idea was a fabulous revelation.   I started my own collection years ago, and have had the best luck in antique stores, thrift stores, on eBay and at Anthropologie to fill in some gaps.  Wanna play too?  Here’s a little retail round-up to get you started:

  • Stoooop! I already have a problem! I just started collecting Culver ones on ebay for use at one of our client’s weddings (ahem- a few may wind their way to mein haus, natch) and now this…. I esp. love Muffie’s Venetian beauties, which I’m sure were collected on her fabu travels across Europe.

  • Culver ones? Do I know what that means? And PS, I thought of vous when I wrote ze post, cuz I know you’re always doing cool stuff like that for your clients!

  • I know this is about the glasses, but I am in live with that sink!
