Emmy Fashion

Let’s dish on last night’s Emmy’s, shall we??

BEST DRESSED

The ever-so-darling Kerry Washington, AKA Olivia Pope.  AKA the Best Dressed Woman in the World.  This get-up’s all fairy-dust and fairy godmothers in wonderland & stuff, and it took me a hot minute, but I love it.  Who’s pumped for October 3rd??

MOST STUNNINGLY FRESH & SIMPLE

BEST LONG-LOST JETSON

I loved this J. Mendel number, and loved her for taking a risk.  Her makeup was also dewy and stunning.

SOMEONE FIRE HER STYLIST, STAT.

I give her mad props for writing such a successful show (which I don’t actually like, but I’ve heard some people do), but why is she wearing Beaver Cleaver’s Mom’s kitchen table cloth?  And who cut her hair with Playskool scissors?

BEST DRESSED CAST

SHE LOOKED LIKE A GROWN-UP LITTLE BO PEEP

…and I’m not gonna lie – I kinda liked it.  Gorgeous color, gorgeous lady, gorgeous detail… Except for the tone-on-tone print, which – up close – made it look like a pair of ruffly drapes in a 4-year old’s room.  From 1982.  Regardless, this is something I would’ve *loved* to have dressed my Barbies up in when I was a kid.

MOST GORGEOUS COLOR

This was stunning.  And I love her, but I thought the bangs/’do and red lipstick were almost garish and didn’t rap with the gown.

I SEE LONDON, I SEE FRANCE

If I had her thighs, I too would be running around in my underpants.

LIKED, BUT DIDN’T LOVE.

I do, however, love her.  She does look great.  But her dress didn’t fan my dress up the way it fanned up everyone else’s.

PRETTIEST HAIR

I mean, dang Connie Britton.

HANDSOME DEVIL

Look at that sweet, clean-cut face.

BEST WET-MY-PANTS MOMENT

I cackled through Tina Fey & Amy Pohler’s whole skit, but when Pohler crawled up the stairs to the stage like a mermaid, I seriously think a little pee came out.  Crossing my fingers they host the Globes again.

MOST INSANE BOD

I mean, is she even serious?  I bet right biceps the-world-over probably got a little bit buffer last night.

BEST DOILY

Now.  If someone could just inject Betty Draper with a big dose of personality, we’d be all set.

BEST BEARD

Jon Hamm.  Rawr.  His common-law spouse also looked stunning.

MOST ENVIABLE ABS

I’m telling you what… If I removed all my ribs and didn’t eat for a year, my stomach still wouldn’t be that tiny.  That dress is also amaze.

I LOVE JOAN.

And she’s a beautiful girl.  But I would bet my life that one of her boobies weighs as much as her whole husband.

CLOSEST RESEMBLANCE TO A SET OF SHEETS FROM KOHL’S

Or is that just a spooky appliqué from the Halloween aisle at Hobby Lobby?  I’m so confused.

I DEMAND A RECOUNT.

Listen, I love Lloyd Christmas’ BFF as much as the next girl…  but did the Academy forget that Dexter Morgan, Walter White & Nick Brody were in the same category??  Just checking…

FAVORITE DRESS ON SOME CHICK I DON’T KNOW.

The nude color with all the doilie detail is stunning.  Who is Shasi Wells??

BIGGEST TEARJERKER

Edie Falco’s tribute to James Gandolfini was so sweet and heartfelt.  Sniff.

Who were your best & worst dressed??  Spill it.

xoxo,

  • Don’t know their names, but they are above in the pale pink dress entitled “Most enviable abs”. Also love the blue dress entitled “Most stunningly simple” and the blonde in the yellow Monique Ihuiller dress. Love, love the style/shape; not so much the shade of yellow. I thought Julia Louis-Dreyfus looked amazing…loved her dress which was also by Monique Ihuiller! Jon Hamm is quite the hunk, but didn’t like the beard on him and the while jacket. Clean shaven and classic tux would have suited him much better! Just Mum’s thoughts.

  • Jaynie: Most stunningly simple was Allison Williams – she’s Brian Williams’ daughter (the news guy)… Julia Louis-Dreyfus DID look amazing… and Don Draper is the hottest man in the world, even with a lumberjack beard! I think the white jacket is swank!

  • Great review Steph.
PS – I’m just thankful Miley wasn’t there to ruin/lick/hump/grind something or someone.
