Dream a Little Dream (Kitchen)

Earlier this weekend, I ran across a “Dream Home: Covet Living” guest post I did for Paloma Contreras at La Dolce Vita.  It was a great little series that a lot of bloggers and designers contributed to, and essentially a post where each of us was asked to compile our favorite images and walk readers through what would constitute our dream home.  Anyhow… I realized that my style has grown-up some since then, so I started cooking up an updated version… and then that got so long that I decided to divide it up and do one post per room. It got me thinking, it might be time for us to undertake a new project. I think our kitchen might be due for a renovation. Perhaps you can let us know what you think?

COVET LIVING: DREAM KITCHEN | SOURCES

1 – Jazz Pendant, Currey & Co (I know, I know… I used this glorious pendant in a Beach House Chic Mood Board recently, but I can’t help myself.  I’d put it in every beach house, outhouse, penthouse and pool house if I could.)

2 – Petite Alliance 4 in Terra Cotta & Marble, Tabarka Studio (for backsplash), Calacatta Gold Marble Slab (for countertops), Antiqued French Oak Flooring the color of driftwood (similar to shown)

3 – Milky-white cabinets with sliding glass uppers and oil rubbed bronze hardware (image HERE – designer unknown)

4 – Reclaimed Lumber Olivia Dining Table, CFC (slightly less expensive and a smidge more contemporary sister company to Noir)

5 – Colonial Cane Chair in Distressed Brown, Noir

6 – Paint Color: Down Pipe, Farrow & Ball, Lucite & Brass Pulls (similar to shown)

7 – Distressed Antique Brass Faucet, Waterstone

8 – Farmhouse Sink in Silicon Bronze, Rocky Mountain Hardware (eh, mah GAH.  nomnomnomnom.)

Happy Sunday!  I hope everyone is still in their sweatpants and eating pancakes and doing as little as possible.

xoxo,

  • Love this!! All of it. You have the best eye!

  • Can I do a bronze sink like that and dark handles on the cabinets? Don’t I have to match them? We’re renovating our house right now. Thanks.

    • Hey Vivian: You sure can! You don’t want it all to be too matchy-matchy, but it does have to coordinate. The faucet is also a worn-brass-finish… and the backsplash has that terra cotta in the tile that repeats a little of that warmth… but then the cabinet hardware (oil rubbed bronze) is repeated in the chain on the pendants, and you also get some dark pigment in the chairs. So you can definitely mix a finish or two in your kitchen! Good luck!

  • STEPH you are so talented. I just stumbled on your post about moving out to California and taking a big chance to do what you love. It’s truly inspiring and it’s obvious it was the right move for you. Thanks for giving the rest of us a little shove to pursue our dreams, too.

  • Stephanie – What a great list. Thank you so much for including us at Waterstone. We will make sure to follow you on Twitter for more good posts. For Vivian’s question – we offer cabinet hardware in the same finishes as our faucets. you can match the whole kitchen. Thanks again!
