Sweet Sunday Words

Good ‘ol Ralph sure can crank out a line (he also penned my all-time fave, which is perma-posted at the bottom of our blog:  “Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.” I literally smell salty air and feel sun on my face every time I read it.)  Anyhow, I ran across the quote above while I was reading the March issue of Whole Living this past week on a plane.  It’s probably something we all know, but oft forget:  to always find the silver lining, to slow down and take a breath, and to appreciate the subliminal beauty in small, ordinary things.  Like the photo above, which is the way the spring morning light was filtering through my bathroom window this morning.  To the tune of a 5 chirping birds whose nest is right outside that window.  No joke.  It’s like I’m Cinderella or something.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be scrubbing the baseboards with a toothbrush outside with a Corona.

Happy Sunday!

Stephanie’s Coming To LA!!!!!!!

Words cannot express the excitement that’s been building for months over the fact that my beloved co-blogger Stephy poo – truly one of my besties – will be in town in just TWO DAYS, PEOPLE.

It seems the older I get, the more meaningful my friendships become.  I think they fall into the same category as everything else in my twenties I kinda took for granted: Having all my loved ones alive and on the other end of a phone if I needed to hear their voices; a certain wanderlust and naivete with still being new to LA and to adulthood.

Well, I’m now at the point in my life where I’ve learned just how incredibly precious life and the people in it are.  Stephanie’s a big part of that!  Sooo, on the agenda for Spring Break 2012?

1) Scouring the stores of some of our favorite designers like Kristen Buckingham:

Nathan Turner:

And Kishani Perera:

2) Driving down Abbott Kinney in Venice to check out the furniture and clothing stores, such as Plantation (below):

3) Lounging and grilling out at her rented Venice pad, Chicago-style… except it’s March and we’ll be blocks from the beach:

4) St. Patty’s celebrations which hopefully won’t end in tears, arrests, or both. On tap: a delicious and sloppy brunch at brand new Santa Monica restaurant Brick + Mortar, followed by whoooo knowwwwsss.

Anywho, I can’t wait for you to get here, ya big floozy!  See you in t-minus two days. Mwah!
