6 Perfect Work Staples for Fall

So listen – I’m no OP and I’m no Julia from Gal Meets Glam – I wear my Cougar sweatpants to get coffee in the morning, not my couture…  aaaaaand my budget is a little more Target Chic than Chanel.  That said… I do have pretty discerning taste when it comes to what I put in my closet.  I love a good staple (they’re so hard to find!), and I try not to buy anything that I don’t really need or don’t absolutely love. Ye know – that whole quality trumps quantity thing.  Everything on this list I have either tried on or own, so I can vouch for all of ’em.  Here are my favorite hardworking pieces for work this Fall:

1 – Faux Leather Skirt in Aubergine, ZARA, $59.90 (There’s nothing that feels or looks “faux” about this.  It is buttery and flattering and delicious.)

2 – Vintage Brass Bar Monogram Bangle, BIXBY & BALL, $34 (Karrie bought this on one of our last spins through Bixby, and now I think I must have it – looks great layered with a few bangles)

3 – Mira Pump in Vapor Grey, MADEWELL, $168 (Equally stunning in Bright Flame)

4 – Striped A-Line Dress, TOPSHOP, $135 (look at the fun detail at the waist)

5 – Shawled Sweater Coat, ANTHROPOLOGIE, $198 (This is so flattering & cozy on!! More of a sweater than a coat, so it’s perfect for Fall, and for Winter in a warmer climate.  Also comes in ivory and in black, but I loved moss.)

6 – Reversible Leather Tote, NORDSTROM, $48 (I like it best in color: black/hematite)

Happy Shopping!

Dream a Little Dream (Kitchen)

Earlier this weekend, I ran across a “Dream Home: Covet Living” guest post I did for Paloma Contreras at La Dolce Vita.  It was a great little series that a lot of bloggers and designers contributed to, and essentially a post where each of us was asked to compile our favorite images and walk readers through what would constitute our dream home.  Anyhow… I realized that my style has grown-up some since then, so I started cooking up an updated version… and then that got so long that I decided to divide it up and do one post per room. It got me thinking, it might be time for us to undertake a new project. I think our kitchen might be due for a renovation. Perhaps you can let us know what you think?

COVET LIVING: DREAM KITCHEN | SOURCES

1 – Jazz Pendant, Currey & Co (I know, I know… I used this glorious pendant in a Beach House Chic Mood Board recently, but I can’t help myself.  I’d put it in every beach house, outhouse, penthouse and pool house if I could.)

2 – Petite Alliance 4 in Terra Cotta & Marble, Tabarka Studio (for backsplash), Calacatta Gold Marble Slab (for countertops), Antiqued French Oak Flooring the color of driftwood (similar to shown)

3 – Milky-white cabinets with sliding glass uppers and oil rubbed bronze hardware (image HERE – designer unknown)

4 – Reclaimed Lumber Olivia Dining Table, CFC (slightly less expensive and a smidge more contemporary sister company to Noir)

5 – Colonial Cane Chair in Distressed Brown, Noir

6 – Paint Color: Down Pipe, Farrow & Ball, Lucite & Brass Pulls (similar to shown)

7 – Distressed Antique Brass Faucet, Waterstone

8 – Farmhouse Sink in Silicon Bronze, Rocky Mountain Hardware (eh, mah GAH.  nomnomnomnom.)

Happy Sunday!  I hope everyone is still in their sweatpants and eating pancakes and doing as little as possible.

xoxo,
