Jess’ Chair Re-Do

BEFORE:

AFTER…  BANG!

(check out Jess’ adorable pup, Gina, chillin with her tongue out in the background)

GORGEOUS, aren’t they?!  My girl Jess – who is in the midst of remodeling the Chicago home she shares with her hubby, Mike – did me proud.  I knew she could throw a mean backyard BBQ, and that my super smart (hello, CFA), super hilarious, super fast (the hooker runs circles around me without breaking a sweat) friend was talented, but I never took her for the spawn of Martha Stewart.  And voila!  She scored the antique set of 6 chairs on Craigslist, and the Lee Jofa “Belgravia” fabric on eBay.  Recognize it?

Well played, Wonder Woman.  Now, if we could just get your navigation skills in check.

Happy Monday!

Spring, you’re such a tease.

Spring has been a real skank thus far…  playing peek-a-boo with sunny 60 degree days, and then peppering us with snow flurries and 13 degree weather.  I had visions of tulips and budding trees and sugarplums dancing in my head come the 21st of March, and *cough* – “Spring” shot them down with its frigid temps and perma-gray skies.  So, I’ve decided to stop waiting on the elusive old floozy, and get the party started.  In my window sill.  So if you’re out & about this weekend:

  • Scare up some terra cotta pots at Target, Wal-Mart or Home Depot
  • Grab a few seed packets of your favorite herbs (I just planted basil, cilantro, and lemon balm)
  • Snag a few bags of soil…  then plant, water, and watch ’em grow.

If you want to kick it up a really pretty notch, instead of using terra cotta pots, plant your herbs in gorgeous vintage tea tins, like zeese:

By the time it decides to play nice outside, your herbs will have germinated and started to flourish, and you can always transfer them to a larger pot and plop ’em outdoors, where they can grow & prosper.

Go Cubs Go!
