Scenes From A Weekend: Palm Springs Bachelorette

Mid-day diving competition, naturally

I know I’ve extolled the virtues of a Palm Springs weekend more times than you can shake a stick at, but I’m TELLIN’ ya, if you ever get the chance to plop yourself into this desert oasis, make it happen.  And this weekend, plop myself I did.  I was lucky enough to celebrate my second bachelorette weekend there (the first was mine – a year ago!).

The ingredients for a stellar Palm Springs bachelorette weekend?  See below:

First, take one adorable bride-to-be (I’d be giddy too if this were my fiance):

*How adorable is this dress?!  From Rent The Runway.  Find it here.

Throw in this rental home…

Sigh.

Decorate it with DIY mementos…

Instructions here

And fill it with delicious grub, such as this breakfast bread bar:

Lastly, hire Brian from Happy Bartenders to show a bunch of rowdy girls a grrrreat time – by whipping up poolside concoctions, of course:

And the quote of the week:  “I don’t know any of these people… I’m in my 30s… Think Magnum P.I.” – Fellow partygoer to bachelorette’s 20-something cousin, who’d gone into detail about several Real World cast members.

xoxo,

Thought for the day…

I think everybody has a handful of quotes that resonate with them…  that kinda make everything make sense and get ’em right here (I’m pointing to my ticker), and this one has been my mantra as of late.  I usually walk on the sunny side of the street and all, but I’ve definitely hit funks in the last few years when things were reeeeally tough and I thought, ah balls.  I hope the best years of my life aren’t already behind me, because that would be dismal.  And those are just 6 little words written in hot pink watercolor, but ever since I saw that picture, it shifted my outlook just a little bit.  And when I moved to C-bus this summer, I framed it and hung it in my kitchen, so every morning when I see it, I look at it, grin, and then slap it on the way out the door like I’m running out of the Notre Dame football locker room and onto the field.  Those are very simple words, but for some reason they seem very poignant and have some kinda effervescent effect on me…  and I bet you have a few ditties of your own that have the same effect on you.  So, fun weekend project (?)  Print off your favorite one (here are some ideas), stick it in a pretty frame (can you say Marshall’s, $5.99?), and put it in a place where you’ll see it every day.  Like this:

And then you can slap it, love it, chant it, sing it, shout it, bake it, shake it or deep fry it.  Whatever gets you goin’.

Have a great weekend!

xoxo,
