LISTEN: “One Dance” by Drake, Wiz Kid, and Kyla. Go ahead and say howdy to your official, shiny new Spring/Summer jam. PS, remember the time two weeks ago when Drizzy left the stage and walked by yours truly after finishing a couple songs with RiRi at her concert in LA? Never thought I’d say it, but Drizzy’s totally dreamy………………………………
EAT: Mini Croque Monsieurs via Big Bear’s Wife. Or, what I imagine God feeds you when you step thru the pearly gates, right after you beg him to let you in. Serve these up at a par-tay and feed your friends the experience of Paris in an adorably miniaturized version.
WEAR: Faux Leather Moto Jacket by BLANKNYC, $98 – otherwise known as the perfect black leather jacket, also known as your Spring staple to wear over all your flowy dresses, or wear with black jeans and a loose tee. Seriously though, I went to a housewarming party last weekend and all the girls had on the cutest outfits with one common part of their outfit: a fitted black leather jacket.
SEE: Dinner at Tiffani’s on the Cooking Channel. Yeah, I mean, it’s not winning Emmys (or IS it; that’d be so badass) but I’m slapping this on here, cause it’s really fun, mindless TV. Every episode Tiffani Thiesen throws a dinner party with celeb friends who’ll seriously make you feel like you’ve stepped back into the 90s. And her recipes are delicious! Ask Steph – we always find ourselves watching this on my couch after my hubby’s gone to bed to watch something manly on Netflix, like some British show about soldiers who beat each other up and then eat each other.
READ: Sweetbitter is THE summer read, supposedly, and I’m excited to dig in:
It’s a coming-of-age novel about a girl who moves to NYC and gets a job working at a restaurant, falls into a love triangle, and well, here’s what one critic had to say: “I loved this novel so, so much. It’s rare that a book conveys with such unerring precision what it’s like to be newly arrived in New York—the story itself, but also tiny throwaway details like the sudden authority of the blue sky at dawn after staying up all night, or your bones bracing themselves for what comes next, or the exact mood of a Manhattan bar at three in the morning. I’ve never seen these things described so brilliantly before. Tess is a remarkable narrator: vulnerable and tough and smart, but more than that, she’s inspiring and riveting. This book belongs with all the great essential young-female-in-New York classics.” —Kate Christensen, author of In the Drink and The Great Man
That’s it for now! Have a lovely Memorial Day weekend and don’t do anything we wouldn’t do…………………………………………..
xoxo,
I love that Drake song and totally agree it’s the song for the summer. And we watch Tiffani Thiesen’s show too and she has the best 90s guests. Her recipes look good too, actually.
Drake is hot. Period.
I just started watching Dinner at Tiffani’s this year. Just love it and her friends.
Right?! There’s something oddly comforting about it. And fun.
Just finished “Sweetbitter.” You don’t need to have earned your stripes putting in 20+ years in the restaurant and catering biz to love the author’s style. But Tess’ story tugged at my heart and had me wearing a little smile from first to last page. Great read. Enjoy!
